Design Thinking Process guides this project through Empathize, Define, Ideate, Prototype, and Test & Iterate to create user-centered solutions.

1

Goal

Create a mobile app that helps users build personalised skincare and wellness routines, making self-care simple, intuitive, and easy to follow.

2

Methods

Research included user interviews, competitive analysis of skincare and anti-aging apps, and exploratory mapping of wellness habits. This provided both emotional and functional insights into user needs.

3

Insights

Users struggle with knowledge gaps, stress, and inconsistent routines. Personalized guidance, daily habits, and clear feedback are key to making self-care actionable and sustainable.

Problem Statement

Users struggle to build and maintain effective skincare and wellness routines because existing solutions are fragmented, unclear, and hard to personalize. Key pain points include lack of guidance, inconsistent information, and difficulty tracking progress over time.

Goals

Simplify skincare and wellness routines with a clear, intuitive interface.

Make tracking progress and daily habits seamless and easy to follow.

Provide users with personalized guidance and trustworthy recommendations.

Ensure the app adapts to different user needs, goals, and lifestyles.

Brainstorming

Generated multiple ideas and feature concepts to address user pain points and goals. Encouraged creative thinking, collaboration, and rapid exploration of solutions.

Sketches

Early sketches visualized key flows and interactions, allowing quick testing of layout and hierarchy before moving to wireframes and high-fidelity designs.

Deliverables

High-fidelity screens were created to cover all key flows, including personalised routines, daily goals, and progress tracking. Interactive prototypes allowed early testing of navigation and usability, while a component library ensured visual consistency across the app.

“The interface is clean, intuitive, and designed to make self-care feel effortless. Feedback and progress indicators were added to enhance trust, engagement, and user confidence.”

Design That Moves People: Key Insights and Outcomes

Early research and usability testing uncovered hidden motivations and subtle frustrations in building skincare and wellness routines. Addressing these needs, the app was refined to feel intuitive, trustworthy, and personalized for different users.

The results were measurable: users completed tasks more efficiently, and feedback showed improved clarity and confidence throughout the experience. This project reinforced that thoughtful, user-centered design is about guiding users effectively, not just adding features.

Method

Tested with 6 participants across key flows: routine setup, daily tracking, and progress review.

01

Findings

Users found the flow clear but wanted more guidance and feedback on progress.

02

Iteration

Added progress indicators, clarified instructions, and adjusted UI elements for clarity and ease of use.
